I think this has to be my favorite project. It started out as a simple altered lunch box but morphed into something so much more practical.
I decided to add dividers for each MONTH of the school year, plus the 1st day of school. On the front of each divider I added little index cards so that you could "journal" what happened each month. At the end of the school year you could pull out your "School Lunch Box" and have the entire year of pictures categorized and "journal-ed".
I'm going to try my first tutorial so please be kind, lol.
For this project you will need the following:
1 lunch tin (available at your local Michael's)
2 sheets of coordinating Designer Series Paper (I used the Simply Scrappin' Kit Primary Colors)
1 piece of coordinating ribbon
3 sheets of Whisper White CS
1 sheet each of Wild Wasabi, Bordering Blue,
Real Red and So Saffron CS
Paper Cutter
Tab punch
Real Red & Bordering Blue Marker
ruler
Short order alphabet
First you want to cut 2- 3"x12" pieces of paper to be used for the top portion of your lunch tin.
Next you need 2- 1 3/4"x12 for the bottom half.
Now I have seen a lot of tutorials that use Modge Podge to adhere the paper to the tin but I used Sticky Strip which I thought worked a whole lot better.
Apply a couple of pieces of sticky strip to the strips of paper and attach them to the tin. (start the strip in the middle of the side of the tin and it will end at the middle of the other side of the tin (when you apply both pieces they will overlap)
I used a 32" piece of 5/8" ribbon in Real Red to cover up the seam between the two pieces of paper.
I stamped the word "school" using my Big Deal Alphabet in corresponding colors and cut them out.
Cover the top with a piece of corresponding paper and embellish it how ever you would like. I used the self adhesive die cuts from the simply scrappin' kit.
Now for the fun part... I cut Whisper white card stock in 4"x6" pieces to use as the dividers. I printed out the months of the school year from my computer and punched them out using my tab punch.
For the accents under the tabs, I punched out 1/2 tabs in the colored cardstock and adhered it under the tab.
Cut WW CS in pieces 4 1/4" x 2 3/4". Punch the short edge with your spiral punch. Take your Real Red and Bordering Blue markers and make lines to simulate ruled paper. (I used the lines of my grid paper as a guide)
And there you have it...I hope that I made it easy to follow. If you have any questions, please either leave me a comment of email me. TFL!
